The legendary trio of Regirock, Regice, and Registeel can be caught in Pokémon Emerald, but unlocking them requires completing a special puzzle first. Follow this two-part guide to uncover and capture these powerful Pokémon.

Part 1: Unlocking the Regis
1. Prepare the Correct Party Setup
To unlock the three Regis, you need:
- A Pokémon that knows Surf
- A Pokémon with Dive
- A Pokémon that knows Dig
- Wailord (catch one and evolve it from Wailmer or fish on Route 129)
- Relicanth (found by diving on Route 124)
Make sure Relicanth is in the first slot of your party and Wailord is last before the final step.
2. Fly to Pacifidlog Town
Start your journey in Pacifidlog Town, a floating village accessible via Surf from Slateport City. Heal your team and ensure you have the right party setup before continuing.
3. Surf the Currents to the East
From Pacifidlog, Surf eastward along the ocean currents. Navigate carefully through the water—look for calm areas between the currents. You’re aiming to reach a specific underwater diving spot.
4. Dive to Reach the Underwater Cave
Eventually, you’ll come across a diving spot in the calmer part of the sea between Routes 132 and 133. Use Dive to descend, and you’ll find an underwater cave entrance. Navigate through it until you find ancient writing on the wall.
Use Dive again in front of the wall to resurface inside a hidden chamber.
5. Reach the Back of the Sealed Chamber
You’ll now be inside the Sealed Chamber, filled with mysterious Braille inscriptions. Walk all the way to the back of the cave and read the text inscribed on the wall. It gives you a clue about the next move.
6. Use Dig in Front of the Wall
Stand directly in front of the back wall and use Dig. This will open a passage deeper into the chamber. If Dig doesn’t work, make sure a Pokémon in your team actually knows the move.
7. Position Relicanth and Wailord, Then Read the Final Message
In the next room, read the Braille text, then check that Relicanth is first in your party and Wailord is last. Once set, press “A” on the wall. The game will shake, and you’ll get a message: “A door opened somewhere…” This means the three Regis are now unlocked.
Part 2: Catching the Three Regis
1. Capture Regirock in the Desert Ruins
Fly to Route 111 and enter the Desert using the Go-Goggles from your Rival. In the southwest part of the desert, you’ll find the Desert Ruins. Interact with the door to enter.
Inside, read the Braille and then walk two steps down and two steps left, and use Rock Smash. The door to Regirock will open. Save your game and battle it—Regirock is level 40.
2. Capture Regice on Route 105
Fly to Dewford Town and Surf north to Route 105. There, you’ll find a small island with the Island Cave. Enter and read the inscription inside.
To open Regice’s chamber, wait inside the cave for two minutes without doing anything. Once the time has passed, the door will open, revealing Regice (level 40).
3. Capture Registeel on Route 120
Fly to Fortree City and head south to Route 120. Look for a cave on a hill near a patch of tall grass—the Ancient Tomb.
Inside, read the Braille, then use the move Flash in the center of the room. The door will open to reveal Registeel, also at level 40. Save before engaging.
4. Don’t Forget to Save
Once you’ve caught all three Regis, make sure to manually save your game before turning off your device. This prevents any accidental data loss and ensures your progress is preserved.
Final Tips
Use status effects (Sleep, Paralysis) and False Swipe to lower each Regi’s HP safely.
Bring plenty of Ultra Balls and Timer Balls.
All three Regis are at Level 40, so prepare accordingly with a strong but careful team.
